Chapter 3
Khushi silently heads back home, contemplating her next
move. Maybe Arnavji simply wouldn't care. After all, he seemed quite busy with
Sheetalji these days and he didn't even seem to notice her much during the
basketball game. Maybe he would be glad to have her out of the house and not have
to deal with her crazy antics. As the taxi approached home, she thanked the
driver, paid him and left. She took a deep breath and entered RM, hoping
Sheetalji wasn't around. But they were all there sitting in the living room.
Sheetalji was smiling and laughing with the family as if she had known them for
years. But Arnavji was missing – where was he?
"Khushi – come to the room now!" Arnav shouted
from the top of the staircase. She fearfully began walking up the stairs while
the family gave her reassuring smiles, but she didn't miss the worried looks on
their faces. Devi Mayyan – please raksha karna! Arnav grabbed her and puller
her inside as he slammed the door behind them.
"Khushi – where did you go? Why did you not tell
me?"
"I'm sorry Arnavji! I had some important work. I left
you a note so you wouldn't worry."
"Just tell me where you went?"
"I – um"
"Did you go back to the hospital to get the DNA report?
Is that why won't tell me? I have told you many times that I don't have any
feelings for Sheetal but you don't seem to trust me." Khushi stilled –
desperately fighting the tears that were threatening to spill. How could she
explain to him..after all him and Aarav were so alike. She knew he was broad
minded – he had brought home Lavanya to be a live in girlfriend. She knew what
that meant. Her and Arnavji were from two separate worlds. She saw how perfect
Sheetalji was for him. She was beautiful, skilled at basketball, smart, highly
educated, and part of the fashion world. His world.
Arnav watched her facial expressions as the tears fell down
her cheeks. She closed her eyes and tried composing herself but it only got
worse. He walked over to her and pulled her into his arms. "Khushi – shh
it's ok. Please don't cry. I'm not mad at you anymore." Khushi continued
to sob while enveloped in his arms. "Please Arnavji – let me go to Buaji's
for a couple of days. I need to get away from here." Devi Maiyyan – please
let him say yes. This way I don't have to see them and then hopefully Sheetalji
will shift to her new place.
Arnav's felt like someone had punched him in the stomach. He
was scared at the thought of Khushi leaving, how could he stay without her.
"No way Khushi – we just got remarried and you spent plenty of time at
Buaji's before that. Ask me anything and I promise I will say yes – just please
don't go."
A light bulb went off in Khushi's head. "Anything –
Arnavji !" – she wimpered. "I want to work. I am bored at home and
want to go back to work.
"Work? Why do you need to work? Do you need money K? If
you do just tell me, I can give you. But if you really want to work then you
can come to AR and I'll tell Aman to find something for you to do.
"Arnavji I don't want to work for AR. I want to work
somewhere that I am simply Khushi not Mrs. Raizada. I have already been offered
a job at Singhania Industries. Please don't say no. If you would have married
Lavanyaji then you would have let her work why not me? I promise to take care
of myself, be home on time so I can help with dinner and wake up early to serve
breakfast. I will not neglect anybody.
Arnav sighed listening to her. As if Sheetal wasn't enough
now she was bringing up Lavanya. When would he get a break. "Fine Khushi –
we can try it out. But no promises for long term. Simply we are trying out. And
either myself or Mohan will drop you off and pick you up. Understood?"
Khushi was so excited she kissed him on the cheek and squeezed her arms around
him. "Thank you Arnavji – you will not regret. Rohan will be a great boss
I know it. He is my childhood friend from Lucknow– I'm sure we will have great
fun together."
Arnav's entire body stiffened at the mention of Rohan. Who the hell was Rohan?
Precap – Khushi goes shopping
