Chapter 24

The family was waiting as Arnav carried Khushi up to the room. Akash informed Arnav that the doctor was on the way. Arnav got her settled in the bed and started griping. "Where the hell is the damn doctor?" Right on cue the doorbell rang and Akash prayed it was the doctor at the door. Thank god it was!
Doctor: What is wrong with the patient?
Arnav: She has a high fever.
Doctor: Has she complained of anything else?
Arnav: No she hasn't.
The doctor then took her pressure and temperature. He examined her and determined that she had a viral with high fevers.
Doctor: Mrs. Raizada will be fine. Here are some medications which will help bring the fever down. Also please make sure you she has plenty of fluids and rest for the next day or so. Any problems than please call me. He wrote down the medicines as Akash escorted him not. "Nannav I will go get the medicines right away." NK put his hand forward for the prescription and left to get the medicines.
Anjali: Chotte Khushiji is wet. Payal and I will change her clothes while you go and get fresh. HP is making soup.
*************************************************************************************
Arnav took a quick shower and came back to find Khushi all changed. He saw Di bringing up a tray of food containing a plate for Arnav and a soup bowl for Khushi.
Anjali: Chotte please make sure Khushiji eats this soup and you also have your dinner ok. I don't want you to fall sick too.
She left and Arnav touched her face gently to wake her up. He felt terrible that Khushi was sick. She woke up with a confused look on her face.

Arnav saw the confused look. "Khushi you are sick and fell asleep at the office. I brought you home and the doctor came and gave you medicine. You need to get up, eat something and take your medicines."
She sat up slowly and Arnav quickly got some pillows and put them on her back. She leaned over to get the bowl of soup then pulled back. "I'm really not hungry right now. I'll eat a little bit later."
Arnav: No way Khushi. You have to eat now.
He then proceeded to feed her spoonful's of the soup. In between him feeding her she glanced over and noticed his plate of food untouched.
Khushi: Hey Devi Maiyya what is this? You have not had dinner yet. You have to eat and take your medicines. And she picks up the plate and starts feeding him. Once both are done eating Arnav goes and gets the medicine.

Arnav: Here's your medicine. Please drink it and I'm also taking mine. How are you feeling now?
Khushi: I'm feeling better just a little weak.
He walks over and holds her hand.
Arnav: Don't ever do that to me again. If there wasn't a car available you should have told me. I don't want you travelling by auto.
Khushi: I'm sorry. I didn't know it was going it was going to start rain. But I have travelled in auto my whole life. It is perfectly safe.
Arnav: I don't ever want you going in an auto again Khushi! That's final! If a car is not available you need to tell me and I will take you where you need to go.
Khushi opened her mouth to protest but they were interrupted by a knock on the door. Arnav opened the door to see Payal.

Payal: Khushi how are you feeling?
Khushi : Much better Jiji.
Payal: You come with me and sleep in the guestroom tonight. That way if you need anything or don't feel well you can wake me up. It's getting late and Arnavji probably needs to sleep.
Khushi nodded and started to get up.
Arnav: Payal ' that won't be necessary Khushi will sleep here only. If she needs anything she can let me know.
Khushi: But you have a busy day at the office tomorrow. I want you to get a good night's sleep. She then proceeded to walk towards the door. Arnav took a few quick paces and held her hand.
Arnav: Khushi you'll sleep here only ok. Payal we'll let you know if we need anything. Thank you for offering but I think Khushi will be more comfortable here.
Payal gave Khushi a confused look and Khushi blinked her eyes letting her know that she was fine here. Arnav helped her settle back into bed and then crawled back in himself. He snuck his arms around her waist and buried his face in her hair. Soon he heard her soft breathing indicating that she was asleep. He was having trouble falling asleep with Khushi sick. What if she had a fever he thought? He felt her forehead and breathed a sigh of relief when it was cool. Wait a minute cool. Was she cold? Maybe she needed another blanket. He got up and covered her with another blanket but then he thought what if she feels too warm with two blankets. He then removed the blanket and replaced it with a lighter blanket. There that's better! He took a few deep breaths to calm his jittery nerves! He just couldn't shake the feeling of uneasiness he had with Khushi being sick.
*************************************************************************************

Khushi awoke the next morning, saw the time and yelped! Hey Devi Maiyya it is so late! She was about to get up when she heard Arnav's voice. "Khushi thum theek ho? (Are u okay?)" "Arnav it is so late. Why did you let me sleep so late. You're not even ready for office. Get ready quickly." She headed to the washroom before he could even say anything. She exited the washroom to find Arnav in the same exact spot, on his laptop, in his casual clothes.
Khushi: Arnav you're still not ready?
Arnav: Khushi I am not going to the office today! I'm staying home.
Khushi: You don't need to stay home. You have a lot of work to do.
Arnav: But you're sick'..
Khushi: Yes I am sick so I'm not going to the office. But you are fine and there's no reason that you can't go. I'll be fine, there are so many people here if I need anything.
Arnav: I've already decided that I'm not going today. Let's have breakfast.
Khushi started heading towards the door when Arnav called out. "Where are you going? I already had HP bring our breakfast up." She turned around and Arnav gently clasped her hand and lead her towards the recliner.
Khushi: Why? I'm perfectly capable of eating downstairs.
Arnav: Khushi you are sick and you are not leaving this room! I am going to stay home all day and make sure you rest. Now let's eat because you have to take your medicine too. Di made fresh juice for you so finish that also.
Khushi: Ok but please don't worry about me. I am fine now.
Arnav: Khushi you just had a fever last night. You need to rest and I know you very well and want to make sure that you get your proper rest.
Khushi: Ok well I can't eat anymore. I'll just take my medicine now.
Arnav: Well this is a first, you and not eat anymore. At least finish the soup. C'mon you really haven't eaten much.
She decides not to protest and finishes the soup. This side of Arnav was new to her and she was confused how to react. She was worried that he seemed overly concerned. Secretly she loved his overprotective side but on the same token she did not want him to worry much. She would just have to convince him that she was fine. Since she was finished she got up to take the empty plates and tray back to the kitchen.
Arnav: Khushi where are you going?
Khushi: I am just going downstairs to put these dishes away. I'll see if they need any help in the kitchen.
Arnav: Khushi you are not leaving this room today, especially to do any work. As I have said you will be resting all day. HP will be here to take away the dishes. You can get back in bed and watch some TV. If you need anything I'm right here just let me know.
Khushi: What? Why do I need to spend all day in bed? I have never spent all day in bed! Arnav you're being irrational.
Arnav folded his arms and blocked the doorway. Khushi had no choice and stomped her way back to the bed, with a pout on her face.

Chapter 23

NK sauntered over to the table where Khushi was sitting and greeted them.
" Nanheji - This is my friend Maya. She works at Rohan's company. Maya this is Nanheji, Arnav's cousin.
NK was delighted to meet Maya. Khushi did not miss the sparkle in his eyes or the eagerness in which he thrust his hand forward to shake her hands. "Pleased to meet you Maya , you can call me NK for short." Khushi invited NK to join them and he happily agreed.

NK: So you and Khushiji please continue your conversation. I know you both have work to discuss.
Maya: We finished our work a while back. We were just relaxing. Although Khushi was only working at SI for a short time, I had still gotten used to her.
Khushi: Maya we are still working together although I do miss our daily interactions.
NK: Khushiji don't I give you your daily dose of friendship? Don't forget we were friends before you became family.

Maya: Oh you've known Khushi since before?
NK: Yes. We have always been good friends. Actually she and Nannav used to fight all the time back then.
Maya: Nannav .. She asked confused?
Khushi: NK calls Arnav, Nannav. Don't ask why though.
Maya: So they used to fight? When did they fall in love?
NK: Even we don't know when they fell in love, with the amount of fighting they did. These two just needed a little excuse to get started with each other. When I fall in love I will make sure never to fight with her.
Her thoughts drifted and Khushi smiled as she recalled how they used to fight to in the past. He would just get on her nerves. Yet she couldn't deny how strongly she had been attracted to him.
Maya: Then your girlfriend will be one lucky girl!!
NK: Yes hopefully I will not be single for too long.
Khushi: Nanheji I will tell Di to keep a pooja for you and we will find you a life partner soon.
NK: No no Khushiji. I want to fall in love on my own. If Di and Mami find out then one can only imagine what will happen.
Maya: I agree with NK. I also hope to have a love marriage.
NK saw this as his chance and decided to ask.
NK: So Maya do you have a boyfriend?
Maya: No I do not have any boyfriend at the moment. Well I better get back to work. It was nice meeting you NK and I will see you next week Khushi.
She walked out and NK got up as well, but Khushi pulled him back down.
"Nanheji all of a sudden you decided to talk of love and marriage? Any special reason , she smiled.
"Just in the mood Khushiji." He winked and escaped from there before she could ask too many questions.

As Khushi was returning back to her cabin, she heard Aman coughing up a storm. She saw that his face was flushed and had watery eyes and nose.
"Amanji are u feeling ok? "
"I'm ok Ma'am, just have a slight cold. *cough * *cough*
"Amanji you sound sick. I think you should go home and rest today."
"Yes Ma'am I am just waiting for ASR to give me a contract to deliver and then I will go.
"Amanji you leave this instant. That's my order. Don't worry about the contract. We'll manage."
"Thank you Ma'am."
She then left to go to tell Arnav that she had sent Aman home. She entered his cabin to find him on the phone.
"Khushi do you know where Aman is?"
"Yes he was sick so I sent him home."
"You did what? I had told him to wait for the contract."
"But he was sick and clearly needed to go home. He mentioned the contract but I told him not to worry about it."
" Great Khushi! As usual you speak before thinking! That contract needs to be delivered ASAP. Let me see if NK can do it."

Arnav was exasperated. Of course he cared about Aman's health as well and had simply wanted him to drop the contract off on his way home. But did Khushi think about consequences? No she would simply follow her heart which did not work in the business world. He would simply have to get someone else to take it over.
Khushi : I will take it Arnav. Why bother NK unnecessarily.
Arnav: Ok but take the company car.

Khushi left with the contract to find out that Akash had taken the company car. She called home to inquire but Di and Mami had taken the cars out at home. She decided to take an auto as she didn't want Arnav to get upset about the contract not being delivered on time. She was slightly frustrated as Arnav had made a big deal about Aman coming home early. Anybody could have delivered the contract, there was no need to make such a fuss.

She reached her destination on time and was relieved that the contract had been delivered safe and sound. On her way back home it started pouring. Thankfully she was already in the auto headed back to AR. A little while later the auto driver told her that the roads were too slippery and she would have to get off here. She tried convincing the driver but he would not budge. She was just a short distance away and she ran back all the way to AR. However when she reached she will still soaked due to the heavy rains. She immediately went to the bathroom and dried up as best she could. She went to Arnav's cabin to find it empty. She decided to wait there. The receptionist had informed her that Akash and NK had already left and that she was to head home with Arnav. She curled onto the sofa, shivering slightly, as she was still damp and cold. She shut her eyes and waited for Arnav to come.
*************************************************************************************
Arnav returned to his cabin after the meeting had gone much longer than expected. He saw Khushi sleeping away on the sofa, looking like an angel. He saw a wisp of hair on her face and he went to move it. "What the!" Khushi was burning up! He saw her slightly shivering and started rubbing her hands to warm her up. He felt the ends of her sleeve were wet. How were they were wet? Khushi wake up and he tried to gently shake her. As he touched her shoulders he realized her entire shirt was wet. Khushi started to stir out of her deep slumber.
Khushi: Arnavji she mumbled.
Arnav:  I'm right here Khushi. Why are you so wet?
Khushi: Again mumbling, I got wet in the rain. The auto wouldn't drop me off due to the heavy rains.
Arnav: "Auto? Why the hell did you take the auto ? Didn't I tell you to take the company car? Dammit!"
Khushi: No cars were available so I had to take the auto. I didn't want to disappoint you by having the contract delivered late.
One look at Khushi made his heart somber. She was lying there with a flushed face, burning in fever, because she came in the stupid auto! He would make sure she would never travel in an auto again! He shifted his focus to Khushi and immediately went into ASR mode. He quickly called Di.
Arnav: "Di ' please call the doctor and have him come to the house immediately. Tell him to rush!"
Anjali: "Hey Bhagwaan! Are you ok Chotte?
Arnav: I'm fine Di. It's Khushi! She is sick with high fever. I am bringing her home now. Call the doctor! She had dozed off again so he carried her out of AR and strapped her in the car as he sped home.

Chapter 22

She felt her throat constricting as she tried to swallow her anxiety. She could only wonder what type of nightwear her very modern and bold husband had selected for her. Then a flash of fury cursed through her. Who did he think he was throwing away her clothes? She whipped around before even looking in the bag with both hands on her hips. Arnav raised an eyebrow and saw his Khushi in tigress mode.

Khushi: Why did you get rid of my clothes? They were in good condition and I was very comfortable wearing them!
Arnav: I bought you some very comfortable stuff. Why don't you take a look?
Khushi: Why should I? I want my old stuff back!
Arnav: See the problem is I have already disposed of it.
Khushi: Without even asking me?
Arnav: Remember when you got rid of my shirts without asking me. I was merely reciprocating your actions.

He walked over and got the white bag and settled it on the bed. Then he grabbed Khushi's hand and pulled her towards the bed. He rubbed her arms back and forth while whispering in her ears. "This nightwear is more suitable for married women." He let his lips caress her earlobes as shivers went down her spine. She was losing herself to his touch.

He let her go and she opened her eyes. He motioned her towards the bag. She first took out a red satin nightsuit. It was not revealing at all with long sleeves and full pants. There were additional colors in that design. Arnav had purposely put all the modest ones on the top. "See Khushi. These cover up very well." Below that were some cotton flannel pajamas. Next she took out some long sleepshirts. She looked for the pants but couldn't seem to find any. "These are only sleepshirts. When I saw you sleeping in my tshirt I couldn't help but get these as well." She looked in the bag and on the bottom were a couple of boxes. She opened the first one and gasped. It contained a very small, see through babydoll in red color. The other boxes also contained quite revealing slips and lingerie.

Khushi: When did you buy these?

Arnav: I bought these when we went shopping. Remember when I left you for a little bit at the store. I went to the other side and picked these up for you. I knew you would be shy buying these things so I took the liberty on myself. Why don't you change now? It's getting late.
Khushi stood there trying to decide which one to wear.

Arnav: Khushi you can wear whichever one you feel comfortable in. I know you're scared to wear something too revealing. Here why don't you wear the satin pantsuit.
Khushi: Scared?!? Why would I be scared?
Arnav: Really? Well then Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada ' I challenge you to wear the revealing nightwear then!
Khushi: Fine and she grabbed the little red see through babydoll and headed towards the washroom. Hey Devi Maiyya! What kind of clothes is this!

She tried pulling it down but it barely reached her mid thigh. It had a plunging neckline and thin spaghetti straps. How could she come out like this?
Arnav: Khushi are you alright? You have been in the washroom for a very long time!
Khushi: I'm fine. I'll be right out.

Arnav smirked as he couldn't believe Khushi was in the washroom about to come out in that revealing outfit. He had thought about buying her some for a long time and when he saw some in the store he couldn't resist. Truth be told, he had no intention of throwing away her old nightsuits. That he done simply in a fit of rage after today's meeting. It was probably for the best or else she would never wear new ones. He was sure she would like them once she started wearing them.

Just then the lights turned off!
Khushi panicked as everything became dark. Her heart constricted as she tried to breathe while she suffocated in the darkness. She turned the doorknob ,not even aware of the tears that were falling down, as she ran right into Arnav's arms.
"Khushi  I'm right here. You don't have to be afraid. I'll go get a candle hold on." "Please don't leave me" and she clutched on to him harder. He moved his arms to hug her and then was surprised at the feel of her bare skin. Her arms were naked and he rubbed her shoulders to find them bare besides the flimsy spaghetti straps. Sure enough the generator kicked and the light came back on. Khushi was still lost in her own world and Arnav got a good look at her. She looked incredible sexy with the nightwear covering very little of her body. He was quite aroused when she shrieked and ran into the bed, clutching the blanket and pulling it over her. He shut the light off and headed to the bed to show his wife how much he loved her.
*************************************************************************************************************
The next morning they were on their way to work when Arnav caught Khushi yawning. He smirked as he thought about how he had kept her up real late last night. "What happened Khushi  you seem very sleepy?" "I am because someone didn't let me get very much sleep." He smirked and responded "It's not my fault that you were looking so hot in your new clothes. I can't wait for you to try on the others."
"Hey Devi Maiyya! Looks like I have to say goodbye to my sleep! Tonight I will be in bed and asleep before he even comes in the room." They reached AR and headed to their cabins.
*************************************************************************************
Khushi went down to greet Maya, who was equally excited to see Khushi and gave her a warm hug. They headed up to Khushi's cabin. Maya looked absolutely stunning in a black skirt and green top.
Maya: I love your new office! It's amazing!
Khushi: Thanks Maya! How have things been with you? How is Rohan?
Maya: Everything is good. He has a new PA now and has been busy at work. So tell me what I need to know about this project. We'll get work out of the way first, she winked.
Khushi went over the pertinent information. They then decided to head to the cafeteria and enjoy a cup of chai/coffee.
Maya: You must try some coffee! I bet you will like it.
Khushi: Maybe one day but not today.
As they sat down NK approached the table. He eyed Maya and was quite curious to see find out who the pretty lady with Khushiji was.

Chapter 21

Aman: No sir. I am sorry. Khushi Ma'm herself asked me not to call her Ma'm so that's why I didn't.
ASR: How long have you worked here Aman? Regardless of what Khushi says you know what the correct company guidelines are. Everyone here better treat Khushi with the utmost respect, I will not tolerate anything less than that.
Aman: Sorry sir. It won't happen again.

Khushi waited till Aman left the room. "Arnav why were you so rude to him? It was not his fault. I was the one who had requested him."

Arnav: "He's known me for a long time and is aware of what I expect. You need to establish respect and command from the beginning with the employees and staff here. This is somewhat new to you, I understand but he knows better. Well I have a lot of work to do so I will see you later."
Hmmphh that Laad Governor, she thought. Poor Amanji. First he spent time setting up her office and then instead of a thank you he got a scolding. It was only her first day but she was feeling like she didn't fit in. She walked over to her computer. It felt a little weird using a desktop as she really had gotten used to her laptop. Amanji had sent her many emails briefing her on the fashion show details and she began to read through those to get a better idea. The time passed by rather quickly and then Akash came in to inform her that it was time for the meeting. Khushi and Akash were headed into the conference room when they ran into Mr. Khanna. Akash was surprised to see him but began conversing with him.

Akash:  "Hello Mr. Khanna. It's nice to see you. Any special reason for dropping by today?"
Mr. Khanna:  "I just thought I would swing by and see how things are going? Where are you and Mrs. Raizada headed to?"
Khushi: We are about to meet to discuss the upcoming fashion show.
Mr. Khanna: It sounds interesting. Do you mind if I join now?
Akash: You are most welcome to join us. Why don't you head to the conference room and I have a quick call to make and then will join you shortly.

He waited for them to walk away and then quickly called up Arnav on the phone. "Bhai ' Mr. Khanna is here and he wants to sit in the meeting. I think it's a good idea if you can join us as well." "Thanks for informing me Akash. I will be in there a few minutes. Mr. Khanna may ask some difficult questions that Khushi won't be able to answer."

He walked into the conference room to see Khushi sitting quietly with her hands clasped together in her lap. Akash and Aman were engaged in a conversation while Mr. Khanna was appeared to be checking something on his phone. "Hello everyone. Let's begin the meeting shall we?"
Khushi watched Arnav enter and couldn't help but admire him. He was such a man who was in control and literally fit the bill of how a leader should be. He was proud, confident, and simply ready to handle anything. His suit really helped personify his image and look as the perfect leader. The meeting was about to start and it was time to redirect her thoughts.
Arnav: So what is new regarding the fashion show?

Akash: Bhai everything is going according to plan. The designs have been finalized and will be sent to be made in the appropriate color soon. The models have all been selected as well. We have no problems as of yet.
Arnav: Wonderful - good to hear. Any questions?
Khushi: Yes what colors will be used this year for the clothing line.
Akash: We will be showcasing all in our designs in the color red. Similar to the fashion show that we did in Lucknow.
Khushi: That's so boring. Why only red?

Arnav: Khushi we have a team that specializes in giving us information regarding trends and likes that we factor in to make decisions. Our red theme has been extremely successful in the past.
Khushi: I still feel that we should some colors besides red, maybe like blue and green. AR should have innovative themes and colors. I'm sure that people will appreciate more variety.
Mr Khanna: ASR you know I agree with Mrs. Raizada. She has a point. I like the idea of adding additional colors. Akash just mentioned that the designs haven't been sent yet. It should be fairly easy to change the colors on some of them correct?
Akash could tell that Bhai was fuming and he hoped that a scene would not be created in front of Mr. Khanna.
Akash: You are correct. However maybe we should discuss this further. It's not a good idea to make last minute changes, especially since we are only one month away. We can consider this for our next big event.
Mr. Khanna: I feel that we should go with adding colors. ASR the final say is yours. You know my opinion.
Arnav was quite in a quandary. He didn't want to undermine Mr. Khanna's suggestion to change the colors, however he was furious at Khushi for giving her two cents. Of course she could never keep her mouth shut.

Arnav: At this point I mirror the concerns Akash has. The fashion show is very near and we have secured pricing and contracts based on certain specifications. I don't want these last minute changes resulting in budget issues. However, Mr. Khanna, changing colors for a few of the outfits should not be too much of a hassle. If that is what you want to do.

Mr. Khanna: Wonderful! I really like the idea of the additional colors. Let's go with that and Aman can let our vendors know of the changes. I will take my leave now but I just want to recognize Mrs. Raizada for her exceptional ideas on the matter. Thank you and we are happy to have you on board.
On that note he exited. Akash and Aman also made some excuses and left as they knew ASR would be pretty angry and they didn't want to bear the brunt of his anger. It was hard to miss the angry frown that creased his forehead. His voice crackled with anger as he spoke.

Arnav: Khushi what was that about? Don't you know better than to make stupid suggestions like that.
She stared daggers at him. How dare he?
Khushi: In case you have forgotten Mr. Raizada I am now the new Co-Director and I have the right to make whatever suggestion I choose. You are just upset because my idea was great and you didn't think of it. Well Mr. Raizada you better be ready be for my ideas because I am going to take my role seriously.
On that note she strolled out of the conference room leaving a gaping Arnav behind. That girl never ceased to amaze him!
She returned to get a message from Aman that he had rescheduled her meeting with Maya for the following day. Since changes and promotional materials needed some changes it was best if they meet tomorrow to go over details.
*************************************************************************************

It was now nighttime and Arnav had not spoken to her much since the meeting. She had purposely taken her time coming up to the room hoping that he would be asleep. No such luck as she saw he was engrossed in some files from work.  She walked over and opened the cupboard to get her nightsuit. That was weird she thought. They were not in their usual spot. She started looking through the rest of the clothes to see if they have been misplaced.

Arnav slyly looked at her through the corner of his eye. He was on the verge of laughing, the sight of Khushi looking through her clothes for her nightsuits was priceless. If only she knew!

Khushi spent a good ten minutes looking through the entire closet but could not find a single one of her nightsuits. How could that be possible? "Arnav I can't find any of my nightsuits? Do you happen to know where they are?"

Arnav: "Oh yes I forgot to tell you. I got rid of all your old nightsuits."

Khushi: What do you mean by got rid? What am I supposed to wear at night? The nerve of him! He was immersed in his work giving her nonchalant answers , like it was no big deal.

Arnav: I bought you new nightwear. Open the bottom part of the cupboard and you will see a huge white shopping bag that has a variety of nightwear in your size.
Arnav smirked as he watched Khushi slowly walk over and take out the bag. She was a bundle of nerves.

Chapter 20

Khushi: I did buy those plants. I felt guilty because I thought I was the cause of your problems with Lavanyaji. I thought if I sent these plants that you would forgive Lavanyaji. I felt terrible that I had caused problems between you two.
Arnav: Khushi ' I never wanted to commit to marrying Lavanya because I never loved her. I knew she deserved better and that's why I always avoided the topic. She was simply a good friend to me. I had told her in the beginning my views and she was fine with it until you changed her mind. But why would you sell something so precious of yours for Lavanya?
Khushi: Not for Lavanya, for you. She casted her eyes down and slowly explained. I thought that she made you happy and if I sent the plants then you would be happy again with her.
Arnav: I've told you before that I had strong feelings for you back then. I guess circumstances were against us. Lavanya herself realized that I was in love with you.

Khushi: What? Is that why she left?
Arnav: Yes. She later told me that she knew I was in love with you. She said we were two stubborn people who wouldn't admit. She was right to some extent. How come you never told me about this?
Khushi: It happened so long ago. First I didn't even remember and then when I did, I didn't see any point in mentioning it as I knew you would be upset.

Arnav: I wish you had told me. You can't keep hiding things from me whether it is from the past or present. However you need to realize that you can't fix everything in the world or even try to. Anyways, open the bag.
Khushi slowly opened the bag. She saw her jhumkas and there was another box as in there as well. He urged her to open it. She opened the lid to the box which revealed her mother's bangle. A look of joy lit up her face as she continued to look at in shock.
Arnav: This is for you. I had brought you here all along with the intention of getting this for you.
Khushi: I'm just surprised that they still had this.
Arnav: Err actually they didn't. I called the shop yesterday and they informed me that it had been sold. Luckily they had a record of who they had sold it to. I had them track down the customer and bought it back for you.
Khushi: Haww! Then why didn't you tell me? Why did you torture me? I was so nervous in the store that someone would say something.
Arnav: Precisely. I wanted you to tell me in your own way. I had the saleslady pretend to remember you and say the things that she did.
Khushi: So you tricking me and lying to me is ok. But when I do that then you seem to have a problem.
Arnav: I was just temporarily tricking you to make a point. I told you yesterday that I don't want you sacrificing your wants, even it's for me!
Khushi: So what should I have done? Let you continue to blame me for every single problem in your life.
Arnav ran his fingers through his hair. When would this stubborn girl understand? The problem had never been her but always him.
Arnav: Sometimes actions can backfire. Let's say hypothetically that your plan had worked. Lavanya and I had gotten back together based on a lie that you set forth. Do you think Lavanya would have been happy? Don't you think she deserved someone who loved her wholeheartedly ? Do you think that I would have found happiness? Or even you for that matter? Sometimes we need to let things take its due course. Do you understand what I'm saying?

She nodded and he began reversing the car to head home.
Khushi couldn't believe that she had her mother's bangle back. He had gone through so much trouble to get it back for her. He had simply stated that she had a need to fix everything. She just wanted to see the people around her happy. She felt as if she had made a mistake so she tried to rectify it. Didn't he realize that it had been hard for her to sell her mother's bangle and to attempt to bring him and Lavanya together again. Why couldn't he understand? She thought wistfully about Lavanyaji and how they had become such good friends in such a short amount of time. She felt sad as indirectly she had been the cause of Lavanyaji's pain. She hoped that wherever her dear friend she was safe and happy.

*************************************************************************************
She awoke the next morning with butterflies in her stomach. Her first day at AR. She had mixed emotions as she had good and bad memories there. The few times she had visited there the staff had been very courteous towards her. Of course they would now as she was the boss's wife. She decided to wear a saree today as it had been some time since she had worn a saree. She still planned to continue wearing Western outfits as well, and Arnav had specified that he was absolutely fine with her wearing suits and sarees occasionally.

Akash and NK had already left for the office and Arnav patiently waited for her to finish breakfast so they could head out. He frowned as he noticed that she was not wearing her mother's bangle. She had been awfully quiet last night and he was slightly worried about her. He was very happy that she would no longer be working for Rohan. He turned on some music in the car hoping it would cheer her up.
Arnav: Is everything alright Khushi?
Khushi: I'm just slightly nervous about bring back at AR.
Arnav: Don't worry about anything. I have some projects for you to do which I think you will enjoy. Staff will help you and I know you don't like boring meetings so you don't have to attend those. However I may need some signatures from you from time to time.

They reached AR and Arnav headed up to his cabin. He had instructed NK and Akash to keep her busy as he wanted to check on her new office that he had Aman set up for her.
NK: Khushiji! Welcome! Now you are the boss lady. I think I should get you some coffee, or I mean chai.
Akash: NK bhai  you are too much! Khushiji if you need anything at all please don't hesitate to ask me. I am always ready to help you. The staff here is also excellent. They are always ready to help wholeheartedly.
Khushi: Thank you Nanheji and Jijaji.
Then Aman came over and greeted everyone. "Ma'm ASR is waiting for you upstairs. Please head up." "Thank you Amanji. Please don't call me Ma'm, Khushi is fine."

Arnav was waiting for her and quickly led her to another office. She gasped as he pointed to the name plate that said Khushi Singh Raizada.  He rested the name plate on the front of the desk. She took in the plush leather chair, colorful paintings, and the plants that he had in the corner. There was a small sofa as well placed against the wall. She rushed over and gave Arnav a big hug. She was elated with her new office. Arnav hugged her tightly. "I'm glad you like your new office. I wanted you to have your own space to work freely. If you want to make any changes let Aman know ok. Why don't you take today to familiarize yourself with what's going on and we can take it from there. Also Maya from Rohan's company will be meeting with you, Aman, and Akash to discuss about the fashion show. Since you were working on it I thought you would like to see it through."

Just then Aman knocked and entered. "Khushi how did you like your office?" "I liked it very much. Thank you for your help." Aman smiled as he glanced over at ASR who was glaring at him.

Arnav: Aman is Khushi your sister?
Aman: No sir
Arnav: Is she your friend?
Aman: Well not exactly'
ASR: Then why the hell do you feel you can address her as Khushi. Have you forgotten she's my wife?

Chapter 19

The next morning Khushi awoke before Arnav. She went downstairs to find HP telling her that Nani wanted to see her immediately. She quickly rushed to Nani's room silently asking Devi Maiyya to let everything be ok.

Nani: Khushi bitiya. Come inside and sit. I want to talk to you about something.
Khushi: Yes Naniji.

Nani: Khushi I am very saddened at the turn of events that happened and how it led to the contract marriage between you and Chotte. It breaks my heart to think how we all treated, since we didn't know any better. While we can't change the past I can request something for the future. Don't be scared of Chotte. If his actions or words hurt you then please come talk to me. We are your family too.
Khushi burst into tears, upset about last night's fight, the remembrance of the painful past, and put her head on Nani's lap. Nani gently stroked her hair, reassuring her that everything would be ok. After a couple of minutes Khushi recomposed herself. "Nani I will head to the kitchen as its almost time for breakfast."
*************************************************************************************
Khushi was back upstairs and applying her lip gloss. She had chosen to wear to wear a red anarkali suit today. She was just waiting for Arnav's call to finish so they could leave. His mood had seemed better when he had come earlier so she hoped that he was ok. She wasn't really keen on going shopping but she didn't want to upset him. If only she had bought something for herself this could have been avoided. Sigh! Too late to think about that now. She went downstairs to wait for him. Arnav came shortly after and informed his family that they would be out for the day.

Khushi: You still haven't told me where are we going?
Arnav: Shopping?
Khushi: I know we are going shopping but where?
Arnav: I have a couple of destinations planned so just wait and watch.

Aman called and Arnav switched on his Bluetooth to discuss something important. "Aman always has such perfect timing. " she thought sarcastically. She was getting bored with Arnav on the phone and she couldn't turn the music on since Arnav was on the phone so she silently started humming. "Aaj Mausam Hai Suhana, Laad Governor ko ghussa hone ka hai bahana, What the What the What the!"

Before could continue Arnav pulled into the parking lot and hung up. "I can hear you Khushi!" She hadn't meant for him to hear and she did her signature O face. She looked out and saw they had approached some boutiques. Arnav led her inside. It was an upscale boutique with different designs of sarees and suits. It was rather large and the mannequins were filled with beautiful outfits. The staff recognized Arnav and the shop manager along with two additional staff quickly rushed over to them.

"Yes sir ' how can we help you?" "I would like to see some sarees. Show us your best!" Khushi gulped as she was led to view the sarees. They were displayed many options with beautiful colors and work. She glanced at one of the price tags and realized that her hunch was right. This was an expensive shop. She could get the same stuff in Laxmi Nagar for much less!

Arnav had seen her glance at the price tag and it infuriated him. He was trying to keep a cool head after yesterday but she was making it impossible. "Khushi what have you selected?"
Khushi: I'm a little confused. I actually have many sarees and it's really not necessary to buy more.

Arnav: Did I ask you how many sarees you have ? No  I told you pick some stuff. Here I'll help you. He picked up an exquisite red saree, a blue one, and an orange one. "Do you like these?" She nodded and her eyes wandered over to a lovely black saree with silver work. While she didn't normally like black there was something about this saree that made it stand out. "Pack that black one too." she heard and whipped her head. She didn't realize that Arnav was watching her. "Now show us some suits. She likes bright colors so please show her something according to her tastes." Khushi once again opened her mouth to protest but Arnav interjected. "Khushi you have been wearing the same suits over and over again. Don't tell me you don't need suits. If you don't want to see me angry then please choose as many as you want." He waited patiently as she tried on many suits. The ones she didn't like she would hand back to the salesman. She came out with five suits. All of the five suits were nice and fit her well. She wanted to buy only one suit. So she began talking to herself out loud and tried to decide which one to pick. Arnav breezed by her and grabbed all five suits and told the salesman to pack and prepare the bill. They then headed to another boutique which specialized in western clothes. Arnav selected two formal business suits for her. He said she may need them for formal meetings. He left her alone for a bit as he said he wanted to check something out on the other side. She also selected a few moderate priced blouses and pants. She went to the checkout counter and saw that Arnav had selected a few dresses as well. She gave him a confused look and he explained how he liked it when she wore dresses.

*************************************************************************************
She thought they were heading home but she was shocked when they pulled up to her favorite jewelry store in Laxmi Nagar. She had not been back here after selling her mother's bangle. Why had he brought her here? Couldn't he have picked another jewelry store? What if someone recognized her? What if someone said something?
Arnav noticed her hesitation. He had to do it this way as he really wanted Khushi to tell him herself.
Arnav: Let's go inside Khushi. This is your favorite jewelry store right?
Khushi: Stammering N-noo.
Arnav: Of course it is. I already asked Payal and she said it was.
Khushi: I really think we should head home. It's already late and they must be waiting for us.
Arnav: I have already told them we would be gone the whole day. Now are you coming inside or shall I carry you?
He stepped out of the car and saw her still sitting nervously. He gave a sly grin, opened her door and positioned his arms to lift her out of the car.
Khushi: Leave me. What are you doing?
Arnav: I was serious. Are u walking inside or am I carrying you?
She had no choice and walked inside. She tried to calm her nerves by thinking that it had been a long time. The store had many customers. They wouldn't remember her. Maybe the same employees didn't even work there. They sat as Arnav asked to see some earrings. And then her eyes fell on it. Right there on the wall display was her mother's bangle. It was the same one. She had to get out of there.
Saleslady: You look familiar! Have you been here before?
Khushi - N-oo she stammered.
Arnav gave her a weird look.
Khushi: I mean yes. I used to come here when I lived closeby.
Lady: What can I show you today?
Arnav: Please show her some earrings.
The earrings case was conveniently placed next to the bangles. The sales lady brushed her fingers passed the bangles as she reached for the earrings case. Khushi closed her eyes in nervousness.
Arnav: Khushi are u ok? Why are your eyes closed?
Khushi: I'm fine. I just want to go home.
Arnav: Select something and we'll leave.
Khushi: She looked over the earrings and picked out a pair of jhumkas. These I like these she said.
Arnav smiled as he could see she was very nervous and had not even bothered checking the price.
Arnav: We'll buy this. Please also show me some bangles please?
Khushi: Bangles? Why bangles? I don't want any bangles?
Arnav: Relax Khushi. I was picking out some bangles for Di. Her birthday is coming up and I thought I can gift it to her.
To her dismay the lady picked out the case that contained her mothers bangle and set it there. Arnav was looking at them closely trying to make a selection.
Lady: She pulls out Khushi's bangle. How about this sir? She looks over at Khushi'. Wait weren't you in here to buy this bangle? Or was it something else as she scrunched her face trying to remember.
Khushi panicked and excused herself and ran outside. She let out the breath she had been holding. Shortly after she saw Arnav come out with a few bags and he motioned for her to sit in the car.
Arnav: What happened? Why did you run from there?
Khushi: I just needed some fresh air. Take me home please.
Arnav: I think you were upset because you wanted to buy some bangles. Lets go back inside and you can choose.
Khushi: NO I don't want any bangles!
Arnav: You like bangles right?
Khushi: I like them but don't want any. Please let's go.
Arnav: I bought some bangles for Di. Would you like to see them.
Khushi: I'm sure she'll love them, can we go?
Khushi was getting agitated and Arnav was getting even more determined.
Arnav: The sales lady insisted that you wanted to buy some bangles the last time.
Khushi: SHE'S WRONG! I didn't want to buy any bangles. I had to sell my bangles because I needed money!
She clasped her hand over her mouth as Arnav looked at her with angry eyes.
" Why did you need money? Why couldn't you have asked me ?
Khushi: This was before we were married. It's not important why I needed the money.
Arnav: Let me guess you needed it to buy some expensive plants?
Khushi: How did you know?
Arnav crossed his arms and glared at her. The shop owner told me that you bought the plants last year and not Lavanya. Want to tell me why you lied to me?
Khushi looked up trying to stop the tears that were threatening to spill. She had to tell him the truth as there was no point lying now.

Chapter 18

Maybe Lavanya had given Khushi the money? Lavanya wouldn't spend that kind of money on a gift. He decided the best approach would be to ask Payal. He would have to ask her discreetly as she wouldn't reveal secrets easily. Luckily she was alone in her room as Akash was not home yet.

Arnav: Payal I needed to talk to you for a minute.
Payal: Is everything ok Arnavji? Is Khushi ok?
Arnav. Khushi is perfectly fine. I just wanted to ask you a question.
Payal: Sure go ahead.
Arnav: Do you remember Khushi needed a large amount of money last October.
Payal: Large amount of money? Um maybe you should ask Khushi.
Arnav: Please think. It's important.

Payal arched her eyebrow and thought about how to proceed. He was asking some rather personal questions, ones that obviously Khushi may not want to share. On the other hand, he was her brother in law and he had never asked for her anything before. So some truthful answers to the questions shouldn't hurt Khushi at all.

Payal: I do remember that she sold her mother's kangans because she needed money but I don't know why she needed the money.
Arnav: She sold her mother's bangles? She must have bought it back later right?
Payal: No she was never able to buy them back. Who knows why Khushi sold them. She does have the tendency to come up with some far fetched ideas.
Arnav: Can u describe the bangles?
Payal: I can do better than that. I have a picture of her wearing them. I'll show you.
She goes and pulls out a picture of her and Khushi. Payal is in the front and Khushi is behind her, with both arms wrapped around her. The bangles are clearly visible.
Arnav: Do you mind if I keep this picture for a bit? Also, please don't tell Khushi. It's a surprise for her.

Payal nodded and was secretly please that Arnavji was planning some kind of surprise for her.
Arnav: One last question. Do you know the name of the jewelry store where Khushi sold the bangles?
***********************************************************************************************************
Khushi entered the room to find Arnav lying down on the lounge, with a tense look on his face. She hurried over to see if he was ok. "I'm perfectly fine Khushi." he exclaimed without opening his eyes. He had known the second she had entered the room. Khushi had a lot of bags and very happily proceeded to show Arnav all the gifts she had bought for the family members.

Arnav: The gifts are wonderful Khushi. What is the occasion?
Khushi: I received my first pay today so I wanted to buy something for everyone. Where's the plant Arnav?
Arnav: Its outside. I already planted it. What did you buy for yourself Khushi?
Khushi: Myself? I already have so much. I didn't need anything.
Arnav: So you didn't buy anything at all for yourself? You think Di or Mamiji needed another saree?
Khushi: I bought what I wanted to buy! You rest and I will go and give out the gifts to everyone.

She then merrily went on her way to give her gifts. The family crowded around her as she first presented Nani her gift. No one could miss the proud look on Devyani's face as she silently watched her bahu pass out the presents. Anjali bitiya loved the saree. Mamiji was simply elated with her gift. "Nice choice Phati Saree ' and this saree is not ripped. Hello Hi Bye Bye." NK quickly stepped forward and eagerly asked for his gift. She then handed Akash his shirt. Aarav was thrilled with his new basketball jersey. She yelled out for the Prakash brothers and they were pleasantly surprised to see their gifts as well. Khushi has really thought of everyone!

*********************************************************************************************************

Shortly after dinner Khushi left to retire for the night. Arnav was still up there working on his laptop and she wanted to see how he was doing. Of course he was busy on his laptop typing away. He barely acknowledged her as she entered the room. Was he upset with her? But why? She walked over and asked him "Is everything ok? Are you upset about something?"  "What if I am? It makes no difference as you only do what you want to anyways." was his curt reply. She really had no clue as to what could have triggered his anger. Maybe he was upset from earlier in the day. She cleared her throat and said softly "What's upsetting you? Is this about the lunch?"

Arnav: Why do you have to be so nice to everyone all the time? Can you once in your life think about pleasing yourself? You couldn't say no to Rohan because you didn't want to hurt his feelings. Then you go shopping and buy a gift for every single person, right down to the damn servants, yet fail to buy something for yourself! Why? I don't like it when you sacrifice yourself or your wants. There's nothing wrong with indulging yourself once in awhile!

Khushi: Well I don't believe in throwing away money unnecessarily like you do. When I need I will buy something for myself!
Arnav: Khushi I have worked very hard to achieve myself and have earned my riches with my sweat and blood! I have every right to spend unnecessarily on whatever the hell I want to. I also don't want my wife to buy only when she needs something! Arnav Singh Raizada's wife should be able to buy whatever her heart desires, irrelevant of the price tag. Since tomorrow is Sunday we are going on a shopping spree ! No excuses!

On that note he stormed into the bathroom to take a refreshing shower. He closed his eyes as the water droplets hit his body. Steam filled the bathroom as he let out a sigh. The water was quite soothing hitting his back. He punched the shower wall in frustration as he recalled his words with Khushi earlier. He had been upset with the revelation that she had sold the bangles. Why did she have to be good? It hurt him that he had caused her so much pain but she had still been worried about his happiness. To make matters worse she had never told him. He knew he lacked in the communication department but Khushi didn't. Tomorrow he would make sure that she would confess everything about selling those bangles. He would make damn sure that she did!

Chapter 17

Arnav whipped his head and looked at Khushi wondering what all she had told him. Had she complained about him? If she wanted to go out, couldn't she ask him? He knew that work kept him busy but she had always understood. Or had she?

Khushi realized from's Arnav's eyes that he was upset from Rohan's comment so she decided to rectify the situation.

" I prefer desi food and usually we have it delivered to the house as it's easier. I'm sure when I feel like different cuisines Arnav will happily take me, right Arnav?" Khushi then squeezed his hand reassuringly trying to tell him that she wasn't upset. Topic change was the best strategy now.
Khushi : I told Rohan earlier that today is my last today working for him and that I will be joining AR.
Rohan: Yes and we will miss her presence.

Arnav: Well I am incredibly happy that Khushi will be joining AR. One man's loss is another man's gain. I'm sure you've heard the saying right Rohan?
Rohan: Of course. I wish her the best. Although I will be still be visiting you Khushi and you promised me I would get to meet Payal, Buaji, Aunty, and Uncleji. I hope you have not forgotten. I don't have any family here and I will be bugging you all frequently.

Khushi: Of course. You can come next week for dinner at Buaji's. She would love to have you and we can meet you there.
Arnav: Why Buaji's? Why don't you have everyone over at Shantivan? We have more space and Nani loves to meet people from Lucknow.
No way in hell would he allow Khushi and Rohan to be at Buaji's. Who knew what tricks Rohan had up his sleeve? Funny how this close family friend didn't even show up for Payal's wedding. Yet he was acting like he was a long lost relative. This guy just seemed to irk him to the core.
Khushi: Of course! That's a wonderful idea! Now please let us take our leave. I'm actually quite tired as we flew in this morning.

They were silent walking to the car. Rohan had given Khushi her earnings for the time she had worked and she was anxious to visit her family. She had planned to go after lunch but hadn't expected Arnav to show up. "Arnav do you think you could drop me off at Buaji's house?" She felt a little uncomfortable asking him as whenever she did he always became agitated.

Arnav: Buaji's? What happened Khushi? Is everything alright?
Khushi: Arey everything is fine. Ammaji was telling me that I haven't visited in a long time. I thought I would go visit for a couple of hours and then I'll head back. Afterall, soon Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada will be a very busy woman.
Arnav: I'll drop you off and tell Mohan to come pick you up when you're ready ok. Now tell me why did you go to lunch with Rohan?
Khushi: Um it was nothing! He just wanted to thank me for my work.
Arnav: He could have said a simple thank you! You don't need to go anywhere with him, Understand!
Khushi: Is this because I forgot my phone? I said I'm sorry. I didn't want to go but he insisted. I'm a businesswoman now and it's normal to have business meals.
Arnav: Well next time just say no!
Khushi: Rohan is a very nice person.
Arnav: Khushi you think every single person is nice. Let's not fight ok. You know I worry so much so just don't go anywhere with him. They reached Gupta House and he leaned over and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Have fun."

**********************************************************************************
Khushi knocked the door waiting for someone to open the door at the Gupta House. Buaji opened
"Sanka Devi. What a surprise! What are you doing here? Did you stir up some trouble?"
"Of course not Buaji! I just came to visit my family!" She saw her Amma and Babuji and went over to greet them.
"Guess what ? I have been working with Rohan from Lucknow. He is doing well and he has a company here."
Bauji ' "Hai Re NandKishore! You are a married woman. Why are you working and that also for Rohan? Your in-laws are too nice to you!"
Khushi: "Now I will be working in AR." She stood up and in a dramatic fashion began to retell the details of the Board Meeting, by using hand gestures and imitations of the board members. The family was very happy to see her accomplishments.
Amma : "Just remember Khushi. You must respect your husband. Don't behave childish and argue with him all the time."

"Amma don't worry about me." She knew how to handle her Laad Governor! They spent the rest of the afternoon laughing and catching up. Khushi enjoyed some homemade pakoras. She also gave Amma half of her salary for Babuji's treatment. Though she was quite hesitant, Khushi insisted on her taking it. She also informed that with her new position and pay she would be able to fund for better treatment and encouraged them to look at other treatment options. She stressed not to worry about the money and that she would handle it. Ammaji was quite emotional and Khushi wiped the tears from her eyes. She had thoroughly enjoyed her afternoon and now to head to the market. She wanted to buy gifts for the entire Raizada parivaar with her first paycheck. She decided to head to the mandir first and then go to the market.
She started with the ladies first. She picked out sarees for Di, Jiji, and Mami. She bought a new shawl for Nani as winter was approaching. She then picked out some shirts for Nanheji and Jijiaji. She had picked a bright blue shirt for Nanheji and a soft peach shirt for Jijaji. Next up was Aarav. What could she purchase for him? She remembered that he loved basketball so she bought him a basketball jersey. He dressed so conservatively and as a kid he should have more youthful things she thought. She even bought some woolen scarfs for the Prakash brothers. She was quite satisfied with her purchases except that she couldn't find anything for the most important person in her life. He wore designer clothes so that was out. Even his colognes and accessories were all designer. He disliked kurta pajamas. Oh but wait! That would be perfect, she thought! A new plant for his garden. She called up the nursery that she had used last time and had them take the order and deliver it to the house. Finally content she left the market and couldn't wait to give out the gifts!

*************************************************************************************
Arnav was already back home, it had been a tiring day so he came home a little early. He felt guilty for yelling at Khushi earlier and would make it up to her when she came home. Just then he heard a doorbell ring. He found that there was a delivery guy standing there with a plant. "Delivery for Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada." "That's me. I'll sign for it. Who's it from?" " It's from a Mrs Khushi Raizada." He smiled as he looked at the beautiful orchid in front of him. He called her up on the phone, wishing she could see the smile on his face. "Khushi - I just received the orchid. Thank you - it's beautiful." "You're welcome Arnav. I didn't know what to get you then I thought this would be perfect. I bought gifts for everyone else also. I'm stuck in traffic but should be home in half an hour."

He decided to go ahead and plant the orchid in his garden before Khushi got there. However he was a little confused about what fertilizer should be used. Luckily the delivery guy had given him the shop's business card as well and he called them. The owner happened to pick up and talked on detail about the orchid and care techniques.
Arnav : " Your information has been helpful. "
Shopowner: "Glad I could help. Oh and sir how are the plants that Mrs Khushi gifted you last year?"
What plants was he talking about? He must be confused.
Arnav: It looks like you are mistaken.
Shop Owner:  No sir. Last year Mrs Khushi sent you a number of plants. They were quite expensive also.
What the! Then he remembered how he had received some plants last year from Lavanya. He remembered being surprised at Lavanya's gesture.
Arnav: Are you sure they weren't from Lavanya?
Shop Owner: I am positive they were from Mrs. Khushi. I remember her as she can talk a lot. She said she was trying to fix some mistake.
Arnav thanked the shopkeeper and then hung up. He was still bewildered at the fact that Khushi had bought those plants. But wait, those were very expensive. Where had she gotten the money to buy such expensive plants?

Chapter 16

Khushi also stood up at this moment, she was about to open her mouth to speak but Anjali pulled her aside.
Anjali: Please excuse us for a few minutes. She led Khushi outside.

Anjali: Khushiji please don't say no. Chotte has to learn to work together with you. We just want him not to abuse his power again.
Khushi: But Di. I don't know about this. How will I manage?
Khushi was baffled! She could not believe that the family had initiated this. Jijaji looked up Arnavji so much. What was their intention behind this whole process? Maybe Arnav had mentioned to Di that he wanted her working at AR.

On the other hand, Anjali was waiting for Khushi's response. She could feel Khushi was hesitant and she had predicted this.
Anjali: Chotte, Akash, NK, and everyone will help you. You don't have to do this forever just a little while. Can't you do this much for Khushiji? For my happiness?
Khushi: Why do you want me to do this?
Anjali: We want you to do this to help Chotte. See he thinks he is all powerful. You know how he doesn't believe in God. We just want him to realize that he can't always be so powerful. There are consequences to his actions. And what better person can help him but you Khushiji.
Khushi: Okay Di. If it makes you happy and if you really feel that I can help.
Anjali: Of course I do. Trust me. I am doing whats right.

They reentered and Arnav got up to speak.
Arnav : I respect my family's request. However, according to the bylines of the corporation, any managerial position must first serve a probationary period of 30 days. Therefore, I request that this vote be taken after 30 days .
The board members nodded and agreed. They would see how Khushi performed in her new role and make a decision. The family seemed satisfied as well. Arnav sat down as well. This was going to work out well. First Khushi would quit working for Rohan. Khushi didnt have much idea about running a company and he could easily get Khushi to sign documents and let him lead. Things would continue to run smoothly according to his wishes. Then in those 30 days he would convince Khushi to not pursue the co-Director position. He figured she would get comfortable again at AR and he would definitely have a position ready for her. Then he heard, "This meeting is concluded."

Anjali: Chotte are u ok?
Arnav: I'm fine Di. Don't worry about me. However I hope Khushi is not scared.
Khushi: What? Me and scared? Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada is not scared at all.
Arnav: Good glad to hear to hear it. When will be your first day?
Khushi: I will speak to Rohan and start as soon as possible.

NK, Akash, Nani, and Di all huddled around Khushi and congratulated her! They were happy that their plan had succeeded and Anjali was sure that Khushi wouldn't let her down. She knew Khushi's spirit and that she would give her 100%. Plus she knew that Khushi had a strong opinion and would speak her mind, whether her Chotte agreed or not. It was definitely going to be an interesting month, she thought!

************************************************************************************
She reached Singhania Industries and immediately went up to Rohan's cabin.
Khushi: Rohan I am terribly sorry but I will not be able to work here for now. The family wants me to work at AR and I can't say no.
Rohan: I completely understand. It makes sense that they would want that. Don't worry about here. I will definitely miss your company but I will stop by AR to visit you. Hope that is ok? Since today is your last day lets go out for lunch today. My treat !
Khushi: I don't know. I want to wrap up a few things before I leave today.
Rohan: I won't take no for an answer Khushi. Be ready at noon.

A couple of hours flew by and it was time for lunch. Rohan decided to take Khushi to an upscale Chinese restaurant. Khushi had not eaten much Chinese food so she decided to let Rohan order. Rohan knew she liked spicy food so he ordered them hot & sour soup, vegetable fried rice, lo mein, and vegetable schezuan.
Rohan: So are you excited?
Khushi: Frankly I am a little nervous. It is a big responsibility. I am somewhat familiar with AR but it has been some time since I worked there.

Back at AR Arnav decided to see how Rohan had taken the news. He called Khushi but no answer. He tried calling a couple more time but he had no luck. He wondered why she wasn't picking up the phone. He then tried on the company and the receptionist picked up. "Hello." "Yes I am trying to reach Khushi Raizada. Could you please connect me to her direct line. This is her husband." "Oh hello Mr. Raizada. Khushi is not in her cabin. She has gone out to lunch with the boss." "What? Lunch? With Rohan?" "Yes sir with Mr. Singhania." This guy was testing his limits he though by taking Khushi out to lunch! Maybe he wanted to get her alone so he could confess his feeling before she quit. Like hell he would let that happen. "Do you know where they went?" "Yes sir. They went to the Chinese restaurant and she proceeded to explain the location." Arnav hung up, grabbed his keys and headed out to meet Khushi and Rohan.

At the restaurant, Khushi and Rohan were continuing their conversation. The waiter brought out the food and Khushi was actually enjoying it. Khushi and Rohan were immersed in their conversation as they discussed Priya, Lucknow, and old times.
Rohan: How do you like the food?
Khushi: It's very good actually. I usually don't eat this but I like it.
Rohan: What types of restaurants do you usually dine at?
Khushi: Arnav and I don't get the opportunity to eat out often. He works a lot and I have a lot of responsibilities at home.
Rohan: Does ASR treat you well Khushi? It doesn't seem like he gives you enough time.

Rohan was slightly upset. He cared for Khushi and it did not seem that her husband was taking proper care of her. He knew Khushi's nature and that she would never complain. He vowed to find out what was going on and help Khushi in any way possible.
Just then he saw a tense ASR reach their table.
Arnav: KHUSHI WHERE THE HELL IS YOUR PHONE?
Khushi : I accidentally forgot it. Is everything ok?
Arnav: I was worried when I couldn't reach you. I called your office and they told me you were here. You are so forgetful sometimes!!!
Rohan: ASR since you are here why don't you join us. There's plenty of food.

Arnav slid in the seat next to Khushi.
Arnav: I hope I wasn't interrupting anything.
Rohan caught on to what he was insinuating. "Of course not. I was just telling Khushi that I was surprised that this is her first time in this restaurant as she is such a foodie. Looks like you don't take her out much eh?"

Chapter 15

Arnav and Khushi had just entered the hotel. Khushi was in awe of such a beautiful hotel. The marble floors, beautiful chandeliers, and elegant dcor was all new to her. Arnav got the room key and they headed to the room. It was quite a large room with a small sitting area and a bedroom. The bedroom had a huge bed and beautiful balcony.

Arnav: I have to head out for the meeting. You stay here and relax. I'll be back in a couple of hours and then we'll go out. Khushi tried to keep herself busy but she was completely bored. She looked out the balcony and saw a market not too far away. She glanced at the clock and saw that there was still plenty of time before he came back. She would sneak out and be back before he was back. She headed out and the receptionist asked if she needed anything. "No thank you. I'm just heading to the market for a little bit." She squealed in delight as she reached the market. First she went and had some gol gappas. They were so delicious and she couldn't remember the last time she had it. She then went around looking at the different shops. They were nice things but the prices were so much higher than Delhi. "What a ripoff everything is here." she said to herself. She completely lost track of time while she went from shop to shop.

Meanwhile Arnav had finished his meeting. He headed back to the hotel only to find the room empty. Where was Khushi? Maybe she had gone to get something to eat. He headed down and was headed to the hotel restaurant. The receptionist asked "Sir can I help you with anything?" "No it's fine, I'm just going to get my wife." "Oh sir, your wife left sometime back to the nearby market. Is she not back yet."
"What the!" he exclaimed as he ran out. Khushi had gone alone to the market? Couldn't she wait for him. He hurried over and within a couple of minutes he saw Khushi eating jalebis.
Arnav: Khushi what are u doing here? Do you know how worried I was?
Khushi gulped down her last bite of jalebi.
Khushi: I was so bored that I just came here for a little bit. I must have lost track of time.
Arnav: It's ok. But please don't venture out alone, it's not safe ok. Now let's go.

They spent the afternoon at Juhu beach playing in the sand and water. Khushi was really enjoying herself and Arnav couldn't help admire her carefree nature. They headed back to the hotel and changed for the evening. Arnav was taking Khushi out for a very special dinner. There was a brand new green saree on the bed for her to wear. She got ready and soon enough they reached the restaurant.
The ambiance was beautiful. Dim lights, candles, and soft music. Arnav and Khushi were seated and the waiter brought out many of Khushi's favorites to her delight. She was savoring the food. Then Arnav came over and held his hand. "May I have this dance?" Right then Teri Meri started playing and they began dancing while reminiscing about the last time they danced to this song. They lit the dance floor on fire and then they heard clapping. The song had ended and they didn't even know.
Arnav: Did you like my surprise?
Khushi : huh? You did?
Arnav: Yes I requested them to play Teri Meri for us.
She smiled and again wondered how her husband managed to look handsome all the time.
Arnav: Thank you Khushi.
Khushi: Hey Devi Maiyya! Did I say that out loud?
Arnav: if you are done admiring me shall we go?
Khushi turned a shade of red and they left.

The next morning
He gently shook Khushi to try and get her out of her deep slumber. It was 9:30 and he wanted to take her out.
" Arnav you didn't let me sleep last night and now you won't let me sleep this morning." She recalled the passionate night they had shared last night as she snuggled further into the blanket. Someone knocked and Arnav went to the door. She opened her eyes to see a rolling cart full of breakfast items, puri , bhaaji, bagels, muffins, eggs, and juice. She shot up from bed and went to freshen up, she was starving. They enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and then Arnav took her out sightseeing. He took her to see gateway to India. After that she insisted on trying to meet Salman Khan and Arnav took her to where shoots usually are held. He was thoroughly amused at Khushi's attempts to see Salman Khan. She asked shopkeepers, passerbys, and the taxi drivers but no avail. They decided to head for an early dinner and Arnav took her to a restaurant by the beach. It had a beautiful view of the ocean and they ate while watching the sunset. Afterwards Arnav took her for a stroll on the beach. It was a beautiful night with the stars twinkling high and the moon shining bright.

Arnav: You know we have to go back tomorrow. I spoke to Di today and I don't think the family is upset anymore.
Khushi: I hope not. I couldn't stand it when they were upset at me after the contract marriage.
Arnav: I'm really sorry about that. I wish that I had never hurt you.
Khushi: You've already apologized. Let's not talk about it.
Arnav: I have some good news. Di is going to be adopting Aarav so he will still be staying with us.
Khushi: That's so wonderful! Aarav will get to stay with us and Di will have someone to take care of. She is very fond of Aarav you know.
Arnav: Well it's getting late and we do have an early morning flight tomorrow. I had a wonderful trip with you. We must make it a point to vacation more often together.
Hand in hand they starting walking back. Khushi turned to take one last look at the waves and looked up at the brightest star and smiled at her parents.

They woke up early the next morning to catch their flight. Once they landed Arnav's phone rang and she could tell something was wrong. "Khushi - we need to go straight to AR. I have a little problem there. I have to resolve that then I'll drop you home."
They reached AR to find that Aman waiting outside. "Sir everyone is already here." Arnav replied "I'll take care of it Aman. No worries. Khushi you come with me."

They reach the conference room to find the entire Raizada family there along with the Board of Directors. Khushi seems a little baffled at seeing the family there. She looks over at Arnav who has a calm face. He motions for her to take a seat and he sits next to her.

Mr. Khanna: Arnav your family has called a Board of Directors meeting. While they are usually silent shareholders they said they wanted to discuss something.
Akash: Thank you for meeting with us on such short notice. As you know, Anjali, Nani, and I are shareholders. The three of us together are a majority shareholder and we hope to make some changes too, with your approval.
Akash looked away from Arnav as Arnav braced himself for the fireworks.
Akash: We feel that Arnav Singh Raizada has abused his power in certain dealings. While he is a brilliant businessman every individual has its up and downs. Therefore, for the sake of the company we feel that a co Managing Director should appointed to work alongside him. Anjali, Nani, and I have temporarily transferred our power of attorney to Khushi Singh Raizada and we would like to nominate her at this time for co Managing Director. She would be working with Arnav and both parties approval would be required for any major business decisions.

There was a gasp all around the table as they contemplated what Akash was saying. He was suggesting The Great Arnav Singh Raizada to have a co-president. ASR was used to running the shots and had a pretty good job. But if his family was suggesting it, they must have due reason.
Anjali and Nani glared at Arnav but he showed no reaction. Absolutely cool and calm, like he was waiting for the storm to settle.
Mr Khanna: Well let's take a vote and see what the other board members feel about this.
Arnav: Wait a minute. I have something to say.

Chapter 14

The time had come for Arnav to face the music. Arnav took a deep breath ready to justify his actions. He went and stood next to Khushi and gave her a look. Silently telling her that he would handle everything and not to worry. She seemed to be trembling and he held her hand while he began talking.
Arnav: This is true Nani. Khushi and I originally had a contract marriage. It was again due to another misunderstanding caused by Shyam. But Khushi and I have moved on past that.

He didn't miss the look of disapproval on Nani's face, the anger on Di's face, the horror on Payal's face, or bewilderment on Akash and Nk's face.
Anjali: But Chotte why would Khushi agree to this?

Arnav flinched. Why did his family ask so many questions? He had taken care of things and it was all in the past. "Di I blackmailed Khushi into agreeing for the contract marriage?"
Payal: Blackmailed? How? What? Khushi why didn't you tell me?
Arnav: Because I told her not to. When I found out that Shyam had feelings for Khushi I thought this was the way to save Di's marriage. Shyam convinced me that Khushi reciprocated those feelings. If someone had told me the truth before none of this would have happened. I never knew that Shyam was Khushi's first fiance because I hadn't been told.

Payal gasped and broke out into tears while Akash tried consoling her.
Anjali: So you both lied and pretended?
Arnav: Di technically we did and technically we didn't. See we both love each other so while we tried it was often difficult to control our feelings. But after the 6 month contract was over that's one of the reasons I agreed to the remarriage. So that we could have a new start.

Nani: Khushi bitiya..why didn't you come to us? Why didn't you tell us?
Arnav: As I told you I had blackmailed her.
Akash: What exactly did you blackmail her with? Khushiji doesn't look the kind to have secrets.
Arnav: I told her that if she didn't agree I would stop your and Payal's wedding.
Payal: How could you play with her life like that? What did she ever do to you that you punished her?
Di: Chotte I am so disappointed in you.
Nani: Chotte I knew you were shrewd but I can't believe you were capable of doing something like this.
Khushi: Please don't be mad at Arnavji. It is also kind of my fault. If I had told him about Shyam before then there would have been no room for lies. I have already forgiven him. He is a wonderful husband.
Arnav: Let it be Khushi.
NK: Nannav I am disappointed in you. I watched Khushiji when you had been kidnapped. How she fought to save, how she risked her life, and how broken she was emotionally. You have taken her for granted. You should have known from the beginning that she was never capable of that.
His words rung in Arnav's ears. They stung him as he knew how right NK was. He so wished he could redo the past, but unfortunately he couldn't.

Arnav: It's late everyone so we can talk about this more tomorrow. Let's head to bed.
On that note, Khushi and Arnav headed upstairs to their room. Khushi headed to the washroom and when she came out she found Arnav on his Bluetooth.
"Yea Aman. That's right. Two tickets. Call me when it's done."
Khushi: Tickets? Are you going somewhere?
Arnav: Yes Khushi. I have to meet with an important sponsor for the show in Mumbai. We will leave tomorrow morning.
Khushi: We? But I have my job and it's not the right time with the family so upset.
Arnav: Rohan knows that you are helping with the show so that won't be a problem. This is a business trip Khushi the family will understand. Please pack for the two of us tonight. Keep your western clothes too. You may want to pack a couple extra t-shirts of mine, as he winked.

He saw Khushi walk to the cupboard and start packing. The truth was that he had preponed the trip. He knew the family was angry and he figured that if they left for a couple of days things would settle down. He had the meeting with the sponsor and then he would take Khushi around Mumbai and Juhu beach for the remainder of the time.

The next morning they were ready to go. Arnav had informed Rohan and the Raizada family of their plans. Frankly, he felt like he needed space from them and was looking forward to some private time with his wife. They headed to the airport and waited patiently to board. Arnav had booked them on first class so they were seated first. Khushi was quite nervous as she was not used to flying.

Back home the Raizada family were sitting and talking.
Anjali: Nani I still can't believe Chotte did something like this to Khushiji.
Nani: Yes Anjali. Sometimes all the power he has seems to affect him.
Mamiji: He should be taught a lesson.
Anjali: I agree but what?
Akash: I have an idea. It would take some work to implement but it would be the perfect punishment.
NK: Akash ' you are going to go against Nannav?
Akash: Khushi is my saali too and I feel really bad that he blackmailed her with my marriage.
Anjali: Hmm so what's your idea?
Akash quickly outlined his idea. The family listened it and comprehended his plan.
NK: Impressive Akash! But do you think we can convince Khushiji?
Anjali: Leave that to me. I will convince her.
Akash: Good. I'm headed to the office and will start to put the plan into action. Once Bhai comes back everything will be ready.

Back on the plane they were ready for takeoff and Khushi had her eyes shut, hands clenched, and her pretty little face was in a frown. Arnav held her hand and whispered into her ear: "Khushi don't be scared." He could feel her trembling. He tilted slightly and brushed his lips with hers. He slowly nibbled and kissed her lips. She was enjoying the feel of Arnav's lips. He bit her lip lightly to get her to open her mouth which she did. She was melting in the sensations. And then she heard the air hostess clearing her throat. "Hey Devi Maiyya. We are in public on a plane. What are we doing? And she quickly pulled apart." Arnav turned to glare at the air hostess, peeved that she had interrupted them.
"May I get you something to drink?"
Arnav & Khushi chose to have a soda.
Khushi: Arnav what were you doing? What if people were watching us?
Arnav: Khushi you were so nervous and I was trying to calm you. It worked right because you didn't even realize when the plane took off. So what if someone saw? You're my wife and it's not a crime you know.

Khushi realized arguing with him was pointless. She closed her eyes and soon drifted off to sleep. Arnav perused through some magazines while Khushi rested her head on his shoulder. Time passed by rather quickly and soon it was time for landing.
Back at AR, Akash had made a few phone calls. So far everything was going according to his plan. He called up Di to let her know the progress he had made. Aman had an inkling of what was going on and felt torn between their family battles. He was loyal to ASR and he had a right to know. He quickly rang up Arnav.
Arnav: Yea Aman. Make it quick
Aman: ASR. Your family is planning something and I felt an obligation to tell you. Next he narrated what he had found out.
Arnav: Aman I appreciate you telling me. Here's what I want you do to. Don't let my family know that you've notified me. Just do as they say. Keep me posted.

Well well what do you know? His family was actually quite smart. He had the power to nix the plan but he thought it may work out to be advantageous for him.

Chapter 13

Khushi! Where had she gone? She had left him. The thought of her alone and crying somewhere was driving him insane. He had to find her at any cost. He desperately tried calling her but she did not pick up. He messaged her to call him back. He ran back to his room to get the car keys and tried figuring out in his head where she could have gone. Buaji's? She said she wanted to be alone so probably not there. Maybe Payal knew? But if she didn't then the whole family would find out and they would ask too many questions. Dammit! Pick up the phone Khushi as he tried calling again. Then his eyes fell on the listening device. Of course she was wearing the microphone. Maybe he could figure out where she was. He quickly turned it on to try and hear. There was silence and then he heard her giving directions. Left here and then another right up ahead. He heard someone ask "Behanji where am I taking you?" Then he heard Khushi reply to a farmhouse. Of course, the farmhouse he thought! He sprinted out of the room and headed on his way to the farmhouse.

Khushi paid the taxi driver and went inside. She was grateful that Arnav had given her a set of keys for the farmhouse, so she could come and go as her heart desired. She went up to the special room, lied down on the floor, and turned the projector on. She couldn't get over the beauty of the stars and planets that were above her. She felt a certain calmness as she let the tears flow that she had bottled up inside of her. She lay there for quite sometime and then she had a noise by the door. She turned fearfully only to find Arnav rushing towards her. "Arnav you're here?"

Arnav saw her tear streaked face and quickly drew her into a bear hug. He could feel how she was trying to find solace by sharing her thoughts with her parents. He murmured into her hair, as he rubbed her back up and down. "Don't you dare leave me again. Do you know how worried I was?  He heard Khushi sobbing into his chest. "SShhh Khushi. I'm here now. Please don't cry."

"Voh Aarav is.."

"Khushi I know what you are going to say but Aarav is not my son. Look I have the DNA test to prove it." Khushi's sobs died down and she looked inquisitively at the piece of paper in his hand. He quickly opened it and she saw the negative in bold red letters, along with the names Aarav and Arnav. "Khushi I have done not one but three different DNA tests. I had told you before that Sheetal and I never had any physical relationship but I wanted to show you this for your piece of mind. Don't believe Sheetal. She is lying."

"Arnav how do you know what Sheetalji told me?" He replied, "I have my ways. The point is that she is lying. Just trust me and let me handle it. I will have her out of the house by 24 hours." He purposely chose not to tell Khushi about the microphone as he didn't want her to be in a worse mood. "It's already late so let's sleep here tonight. We'll go back home in the morning."

She saw Arnav head to a cupboard and he pulled out a Tshirt and track pants. It was then she realized that in a haste she had forgotten to bring her overnight clothes. She figured she would have to sleep  in her Anarkali suit. She took her dupatta off and headed towards the bed. Just as she was about to pull the blanket over her Arnav inquired "What are you doing? Go and change your clothes, you can't sleep wearing that. " She replied "Voh, umm I forgot my clothes."

Arnav: Here I have some spare clothes. You can wear mine.
He gave her a cotton tshirt and track pants. She goes to change into his clothes. Although the pants were a little big she manages to hold it up with her hands. Arnav sees her coming out and thinks about how adorable she looks in his clothes. She comes into bed and they both fall asleep.

Next morning, Arnav wakes up first. He rubs his eyes and turns to look at Khushi. He covers his mouth to stifle his laughter as he doesn't want to wake her up. The pants that he had loaned here were loose and apparently had slipped off of her. She was asleep in one of her taekwondo poses with her bare legs over his. "Ooh this was going to be fun" he thought. First he took the blanket that was at the foot of the bed and hid it under the bed, so she couldn't see. He then took the track pants and put it on his night stand. He held her hands and started rubbing his foot up and down her legs. "Khushi wake up."
Khushi stirred and opened her eyes. She saw Arnav looking at her intently with a lopsided grin. "What is he up to so early in the morning?" Then she felt something on her leg. She looked down to see Arnav's foot on her bare leg. "AAAHHH!" she screamed. "Hey Devi Maiyya! Where are my pants?" She shot up but Arnav rolled on top of her so she couldn't move.

Arnav: What happened Khushi? If you didn't like my pants you should have told me. I like you sleeping this way better anyway
Khushi : Please leave me Arnav..
Arnav:  You have become so bold now sleeping in t-shirts. I will have to buy you some new nightwear.
He was enjoying seeing Khushi so uncomfortable. Her face was definitely turning red.
Khushi: If you don't leave me now you will regret it!
Ok ok and Arnav let her go as she ran into the bathroom with her Anarkali suit.

They headed straight to work and the day passed by quickly. Arnav didn't want to create any commotion at work and he wanted Khushi to present when he spoke with Sheetal. Finally the evening arrived and they had reached home. Sheetal was sitting in the living room with the family. He held Khushi's hand and went straight to her. He handed Sheetal some papers.

Arnav: Why did you tell Khushi that Aarav is our son? You and I both know that there is no possibility of him being mine.
Sheetal: I didn't say that. Khushi must have misunderstood..
Arnav: Don't lie. I know very well that's what you told her. I ran those DNA tests in your hand and it proves that I am not the father and you are not his mother. So tell me why did you say this lie?
Sheetal: Okay fine I'll tell you. But believe me I was trying to help you.
Arnav: Help me?
The entire Raizada family is looking in shock at the two of them. Nani can't believe the conversation that she is listening to at the moment.
Sheetal: Recently, I met your brother in law Shyam Jha. I recognized him from the papers and asked how you were doing. At first, he didn't tell me anything but I could tell he was hiding something. I finally persuaded him and he confided in me that you were miserable. He told me how Khushi had somehow managed to become your wife and that you two were simply in a contract marriage. At first, I didn't believe him but when he had a copy of the marriage contract I had no choice. He told me that Khushi was taking advantage and that if I was a true friend I would help you.

The reaction around the room was simultaneous. Gasps, murmurs, and looks of disbelief mirrored the faces of the Raizada clan. Arnav was cursing silently at Shyam for again trying to create havoc in their lives.
Sheetal: I brought Aarav from an orphanage. I thought that I would claim to have a son that was yours. I figured that no wife would tolerate that and that Khushi would leave you. Therefore, you would get your freedom back like you wanted.

Arnav was livid! "Sheetal  I love Khushi and I am married to her because I want to be married to her. The contract marriage is none of your business! You should not have believed a word Shyam said. Now get out and I never want to see your face again! I will handle Aarav." And on that note she left. Arnav turned and looked at his family ready to face their wrath.

Nani: Chotte what contract marriage is she talking about?

Chapter 12

"So Sheetal. Have you spoken with your landlord lately? Has he given you a final move in date?"

Sheetal shifted uncomfortably as he was literally was asking her when she was leaving. "Yes Arnav. I should have my new flat very soon."
Anav: "Wonderful. Have you started looking for furniture and other necessary items for your apartment?"
Sheetal: "Not yet. I haven't had much time to go shopping. I will soon though. Maybe even today."
Arnav: That's great. I'll tell Khushi and NK to go along with you and help you. You can all go this evening." He left there leaving behind a sulking Sheetal. She knew she would have to strike this evening.

Rohan had requested Khushi to speak with him about an important matter. She was very curious as she entered quietly.

Rohan: ASR has appointed us in charge of certain events for his upcoming fashion show. As you know it's a prestigious event and it's exciting to have the opportunity to work for him. I have decided that it would be best if you work with Maya for the time being and assist in handling the logistics of the event.
Rohan let out the breath that he had been holding as he silently awaited Khushi's reaction. She had a questionable look on her face. "But how will I work with Maya and be your PA?" Rohan replied, "I will be hiring a temporary PA and you will work with Maya. Since this is a huge project she will need extra help and I thought you would be the perfect candidate." "Alright Rohan. If that's what you want then I will work with Maya." "Great Khushi. You can go ahead and head over to Maya's office and she will give you an outline." Rohan had already spoken to Maya about Khushi's involvement and tasks for the project. She had been excited about working with Khushi and the entire project.

The day passed and everyone was back at RM. Arnav and Khushi were enjoying a cup of tea before dinner in their room.

Arnav:  Sheetal needs some help in getting some new things for her flat. Would you please go with her and help her. I'll ask NK to accompany you two as I have a presentation to work on tonight.
Khushi:  Okay Arnav and she smiled at him.
He took that opportunity to pull her onto his lap while he pulled a box out of his pocket. It was beautifully wrapped with glittery gold wrapping paper. "Open it." he said as he rested his chin on her shoulder and wrapped his arms around her waist. She hurriedly opened the box and Arnav could see just how excited she was. There was a black velvet box and inside the box was a beautiful and elegant butterfly broach. It had various colors, covered with glitter that allowed it to sparkly. She smiled as he took it out of the box and pinned it to the top of her suit. "How do you like it Khushi?" "I love it Arnav. Thank you so much! But what's the reason for a gift?" "Can't I buy my wife a gift without a reason. I saw this butterfly broach and thought of you since your Buaji calls you Titliya." He then remembered that he had forgotten something and pulled something else out. " Here is your new credit card. Feel free to buy whatever you like. NK and Sheetal are ready and they are waiting for you downstairs." She reluctantly took the credit card, thanked him, and gave him a big hug.

Arnav watched her leave. He recalled his plan and hoped NK would not ruin it. First he had bought the broach and had a mini microphone installed in the back so he could hear Sheetal's statements to Khushi.  He had specified to NK to leave them alone for a bit and notify him so he could listen in.
Nk, Khushi, and Sheetal had arrived at the shopping mall. Sheetal was having a tough time deciding what to get. NK saw a pretty girl in the next aisle and chose this opportunity to leave them alone. He called Nannav and let him know that they were alone. Arnav turned on his listening device to listen in.

Khushi: Sheetalji what are the different things that you need to buy today?
Sheetal: Just normal things for an apartment or anything that fancies my eyes. Honestly I am worried about Aarav so I am not able to concentrate.
Khushi: What's wrong with Aarav?
Sheetal: He has been insisting about meeting his father and I don't want to disappoint him but I can't tell him who his father is.
Khushi: Why can't you tell him who his father is?
Sheetal: His father is happily married now and I don't want to ruin his life.
Arnav was tensing up, just listening to this crap. He knew what she was insinuating.
Khushi: But Aarav has a right to know who his father is. Tell me and maybe I can help you.
Sheetal: You can't help Khushi. She looked straight into her eyes ready to rock Khushi's perfect world. "After all, you are the wife of Aarav's father. Arnav is Aarav's father."

Khushi blinked back to try and suppress the tears that were threatening to spill from her eyes.  She had a doubt about Aarav but now she was hearing it directly from Sheetal. The thought of Sheetal and Arnav just made her stomach churn. But that was his past, she thought. She had known how he was from the beginning.  But she knew Arnav had the right to know.
Khushi: If that is the truth then we have to tell Arnav. He has a right to know.
Sheetal: No Khushi. Since there is no chance of Arnav and I ever being together I don't want him to know. I'll live my life happily with Aarav.

Arnav had had just about enough of her lies. He knew they never had a physical relationship and he didn't know what kind of games she was playing, but he was going to end it. He called NK and told him to head back to the girls and bring them straight home. He needed to speak with Khushi and clear the air before she believed Sheetal's words. He quickly headed out to get the proof that he needed before Khushi came back home.

NK caught up with them and could sense something had brewed between the ladies. Of course his concern was for his friend and he immediately inquired if Khushi was ok. She nodded and he said that it was getting late and to head home. Khushi's mind was swirling and she was contemplating what to do. She knew Arnav would never leave her, no matter what, but how fair was that to Aarav? They quickly pulled up to RM and she had no idea how to deal with the situation. She just needed to be alone to clear her thoughts. She headed out and intentionally left her purse in the car. When NK and Sheetal entered she exclaimed, "Oops I forgot my purse in the car. I'll go get it." NK and Sheetal went inside and she headed back out to get her purse. Once she received it she headed back out to the main road and hailed a taxi. She told the taxi driver where to go.

Arnav ran downstairs after he heard NK. He knew how upset she must be and tomorrow would be Sheetal's last day in their lives. He needed to handle Khushi first though. "NK – where's Khushi?" "Nannav she just went out to get her purse from the car. She should be back inside in a minute." He stepped outside to find no one there. "Where was Khushi he thought?" Just then he received a text message. It was from Khushi and it read
